More on US politics

(more than I actually wanted to comment on but it’s irresistable!)

Just a short but revealing quote from the speech by Sen. Zell Miller (found via bloglines toplinks) Read the rest.

Now, while young Americans are dying in the sands of Iraq and the mountains of Afghanistan, our nation is being torn apart and made weaker because of the Democrat’s manic obsession to bring down our Commander in Chief.

Of course in context it sounds less extreme, still, isn’t that the point of elections to give the people the option to bring down the elected leader if they so choose? It seems to me that this sentence speaks of desperation and a hint of “this is sooo unfair, how can they even think about it ….”. Democracy you know? Freedom to choose?

But who am I to judge … Germany has it’s own political mud-wrestling-matches (maybe “Schlammschlacht” will be an English word soon ….).

add: a comment by someone else on the speech mentionned above and more when opposing bush becomes unpatriotic
