Pixel Shaders

Today I found out that wineX published by TransGaming Technologies doesn’t support a lot of the advanced graphic features:

… investigation into the implementation of pixel shaders for DirectX 8 and up, and the next generation of vertex shaders required for DirectX 9

I should have known.

I am going to try and build it from source and check wether I get any game to run and whether the looks are acceptable. But I am not paying (additional!) money to run games on a GeForce4 that look crappy.

Good for me that I left that 30GB partition unused so far. It should hopefully be possible to get a windows on that one without trouble, if/when it turns out that wineX isn’t up to my expectations.
