Daddeln

I have written most of my blog entries this week on linux stuff. Some days I think more, some days I am more into ‘daddeln’ which might mean something like “playing with geek related stuff like computers/software/gizmos/dvds without really accomplishing something”. There are just a few German words that are hard to explain in English. But trying to explain is fun nevertheless.

We tried at a party once with the difference between ‘kitschig’ and ‘spiessig’. The first meaning ‘trashy, tacky or corny’, depending on the speaker. The second means (according to leo) ‘square’ but really that doesn’t quite catch the meaning.
